Perfect rod for bouncing large tube jigs and bondys in deep water. Lots of backbone but still enough sensitivity to feel everything. Not my first Haat Rod and not my Last.
Yes, thanks for asking.
I set up the rod with a, Abu Garcia c3 bait casting reel with 15# power pro line. Fishing mostly deep water in Lake Huron for Lake trout. Depths anywhere from 40' to 200' and jig heads/buck tails ranging from 3/4oz to 3oz depending on the current. I like the length and stiffness of the rod. One thing that bothers me when jigging is the length of the handle. I have several other rods including custom made ones that all have a bit shorter handles and work well. Maybe rod handle lengths could be an option? Haven't landed many with this rod yet, but over all happy with the performance.
Strong rods, great quality and feel.
Own 2 heavy and 1 extra heavy.
Ex heavy u can jig a 7 oz Bondi no problem
The perfect rod for 30"+ lake trout. Landed more big fish last season because of it, other rods just could take the fight of the Big Macs. Would definitely recommend.
Got the 45" med heavy, and the 45" extra heavy. Great rods can definitely handle any fish I'll catch. Extra heavy rod has lots of backbone
This rod is well built. Eyes are big enough to help with ice build up, and tip is sensitive to feel the bite with plenty of backbone. It also looks great.
The medium heavy casting rod is my new go too. It is sensitive enough to feel a soft perch bite and has more than enough spine to handle those 30" eyes. I am looking forward to putting the extra heavy to the test with some big lakers but I have not yet had the chance. Both rods are excellent quality. the long casting handle makes the rod very comfortable to operate. Highly recommend these rods!
Brought 2 of the 45" extra heavy casting rods to catfish with here in the southeast. I've hooked and landed 60 pounder's with them, man you talking about a fight. If I had to do it all over again I would. If you reading this review do yourself a favor and get one. You will not regret it those rods are Bad to the Bone.
fishing big northerns on lake of the woods love these rods
I've yet to land a monster laker with it in the northern Yukon but it sure has been a amazing ice rod!
