I really like this rod. It is a joy to fish lake trout. It makes controlling my lures very easy. It is by far the best rod I have seen for using a baitcaster which is my preference. It would be even better if the blank went all the way through the handle. I fish mostly outside and have not had trouble with icing on the guides. Haven't caught any really large fish yet but it handles 10 lbers easily. Have also used it for walleyes a few times. Probably should have purchased the medium instead.
Hi David - we are pleased to hear our rods handle your specific fishing application well and provide an enjoyable experience. All of our rod blanks do in fact go through the rods handle. Your detailed feedback is appreciated by our team and we are working on adding information to the site to better direct our consumers to the rod that will best suit their needs. - Dan
Definitely the best rod in my arsenal, very good for fishing blade baits. Thank you Haat Rods!
This ice rod is a beast it can handle bass with no problem and has enough back bone and power for huge pike and lakers
The blank is a very good blank, guides are exceptional. I believe the rods would be alot better, stronger less flimsy if the connection from blank to handle was more solid, and less flex at the base as it is weak, could be alot better. Still have my rod works fine.
Purchased this rod in October and quickly
put it to use reeling in dozens of Henry's Lake trout through the ice. Love the long handle while reeling in large Idaho trout and the rod blank is sensitive enough to pick up the slightest bite. The fit and finish on Haat Rods is as good as I have seen and I just purchased a 45" MH to start chasing lake trout with.
